We stacked the legendary fuzz pedals through a dimed tube amp and ranked them by doom-worthiness.
Stoner tone lives and dies on the fuzz pedal. We ran the legends — Big Muff, Tone Bender, Fuzz Face, Super Fuzz — through a dimed OR15 and ranked them by sustain, low-end retention, and how well they cleaned up with the guitar's volume knob.
The verdict won't shock anyone who's played one: the Big Muff ram's head is still the king. But two modern clones came closer than we expected, and one budget pedal genuinely shocked us.
Verdict: 9.1/10
The Big Muff ram's head is still the undisputed king of stoner sustain.
