Best 7-String Guitars for Djent & Modern Prog

We shred-tested the top extended-range axes built for low-tuned progressive metal.

The 7-string is no longer a novelty — it's the engine of modern prog and djent. We put the top extended-range guitars through their paces, testing pickup clarity on the low B, neck stability under dropped tunings, and how each handles the palm-muted chug that defines the genre.

The winner surprised us: it wasn't the most expensive. It was the one that stayed in tune through three hours of down-tuned riffing without a single intonation complaint. That's the test that matters.
