AC/DC Power Up Tour Adds North American Stadium Dates for 2027

The Aussie hard rock giants extend the Power Up run with a fresh string of stadium shows across the US and Canada.

AC/DC are taking the Power Up record back on the road with a 2027 North American stadium run, their first full stateside trek since the 2016 Rock or Bust tour. The band confirmed the first wave of dates across the US and Canada, with Brian Johnson and Angus Young fronting the lineup that brought the record to life — Cliff Williams on bass, Stevie Young on rhythm guitar, and Matt Laug on drums for the trek. The announcement ends a decade-long absence from American stadiums, and the early presale numbers suggest the demand has not cooled in the slightest.

The Power Up album, released in November 2020, was the band's first record since 2014's Rock or Bust and the first to be built around the reunited Johnson/Young writing partnership since 2008's Black Ice. It debuted at number one in over a dozen countries and was the record that confirmed the band could still write a stadium-sized riff a half-century into their career — 'Shot in the Dark' alone earned its place in a setlist that already had no room for new material. The 2027 tour is the first chance most American fans have had to hear those songs in a stadium, and the band has signaled the set will lean into both the new record and the canonical deep cuts the catalog has been hiding for years.

Expect a setlist heavy on the new record plus the Back in Black deep cuts that haven't been aired since the 80s. The band's last stateside run was the Rock or Bust tour of 2015-2016, which grossed over $180 million and played to capacity crowds at MetLife, AT&T Stadium, and Dodger Stadium; the 2027 routing is being built to the same scale, with the band opting for single-night stadium shows over the arena runs most legacy acts have migrated to. Angus Young, who turned 71 this year, has confirmed he will do the full duckwalk in full schoolboy kit for the entire run, and the band has promised the most destructive stage show they've mounted since the 1991 Monsters of Rock tour — pyro, cannons on 'For Those About to Rock,' and the inflated Rosetta Stone devil that has been the band's signature since 'Hells Bells' first rang out in 1980.

The tour is also a comeback for Brian Johnson, who was forced off the road in 2016 by a hearing-loss condition that doctors warned could end his career. Axl Rose stepped in to finish the Rock or Bust dates; Johnson spent the next two years working with hearing technology that returned him to stage volume, and the Power Up sessions were the first time he'd been in a studio at full singing volume since the hearing scare. The 2027 dates are being billed internally as a victory lap for that return, and the band has made no secret that the set will lean on the songs that proved he could still do it — 'Through the Mists,' 'Realize,' and the title track are all in the working setlist.

Tickets are on sale now through the official box office below, with presales that moved faster than any AC/DC on-sale in over a decade. The first nights in the Northeast and on the West Coast are expected to sell through before the public on-sale closes. The band has added second nights in three markets based on the early demand, and a final wave of dates — rumored to include a Toronto and a Texas swing — is expected to be confirmed before the end of the year.

If you have been waiting a decade to see the cannons go off in person, this is the tour. Get to the box office, and get there early.
