An absolute tone monster. The PAF response delivers unmatched warm, woody harmonics.
We A/B'd a genuine 1959 'Burst against its modern Custom Shop reissue side by side through a 50-watt Plexi. The vintage guitar's 65-year-old mahogany and dried nitro finish open up in the midrange the way a new build simply can't — the notes bloom and sustain forever.
That said, the reissue gets you 90% of the way there for 5% of the price (and none of the terror of gigging a museum piece). If you're a touring player, the reissue is the smart call. If you're chasing the last 10%, start saving — and praying.
Verdict: 9.8/10
An absolute tone monster. The PAF response delivers unmatched warm, woody harmonics.
